The best choice restores a 3:4 or 4:3 ratio in your leave — even if it scores fewer points.

5-Tile Threshold: When 5+ tiles are the same type (vowel or consonant), balance becomes priority #1. A 20-point dump beats a 30-point play that worsens imbalance.
Vowel dumps: Memorize ADIEU, AREAE, AECIA, AALII, MIAOU, OIDIA, AUREI — they shed 4 vowels in one play.
Consonant dumps: Y counts as a vowel substitute. MYTHS, LYNCH, PSYCH, SYNTH, NYMPHS, CRYPTS, GLYPHS shed 4-5 consonants.
Target 3:4 or 4:3. The ideal rack has roughly 40-43% vowels. Anything beyond that ratio costs you bingo potential and flexibility.
Imbalance compounds. A bad rack this turn leads to a worse rack next turn. Fix it immediately — don't hope the bag saves you.
